Hi TFP Community,

Need some expertise to help with the plaster job completed in the last month.

Once plaster was complete I immediately ran two hoses coming off city water to fill pool ASAP. In about 12-14 hours pool was filled. However, the plaster was completed before pool equipment, including lights, were installed. (COVID and Texas freeze strain on equipment inventory delayed us for months.) From what I’ve read, learning all this after the fact, filtering water and brushing should’ve started immediately. Since equipment didn’t go in until 8 days after plaster was completed, this wasn’t possible.

We have several large sections of white blotches on our grey plaster. Attaching photos for visual. PB said we’ll need to acid wash. Since this can be harsh on the plaster, and reduce life, I’m hoping there is another option available.

Thanks in advance for any insight or suggestions for a solution!

The other option is to sand the plaster with 80/100 grit wet/dry sandpaper. That is much more labor intensive then an acid wash but will not etch the plaster the way acid will.

I don't think even acid washing will fix all the imperfections. Many of them came from the plaster installation.
