Need tricks for removing horizontal bars in an Intex Ultra Frame pool

thanks Charles. The inner blue liner stuck and ripped away from the Grey pocket pretty significantly on two poles pictured below. I think the strength of the pocket for the poles is the Grey material which is still intact. I'm thinking I should try to clean theses poles and try the silicone or coconut oil next year, I take it yours weren't this bad.

I have a very good Intex Ultra Frame pool, 14' diameter. Like the smaller, more basic 12' Intex pool I owned before, this one has sticky horizontal beams or rails. Once you remove the pool's vertical legs, here's how to get the rails out pretty easily:
  1. Twist a rail on both ends.
  2. Insert a broomstick through the top of the vinyl sleeve and move from one side to the other: this will unstick the vinyl from the metal rail.
  3. Now push in the pin on the FAR end of the T connector to which the rail is attached; wiggle the rail and pull it out. It should come out pretty easily with the T connector attached.
  4. Now remove the T connector from the withdrawn rail.
  5. Proceed all around the pool, using this same method.

I just went through this today and I came up with a really good solution (at least for my rectangular pool). I ran a piece of strong cord (I used strap material I had around) through the pocket until it was out both ends. Then I tied a loose loop using a bowline knot and worked it around the end so the loop was around the beam. I then tugged hard on the other end until the loop came all the way through (around the beam) . This broke off the stuck vinyl in about 5 minutes a side once I thought of it.

Should work on a round pool but I don't have one so I can't guarantee it.
This worked perfectly for me - thanks!

I second this as the best method. I independently had the same idea so came to post it but hats off to BajanSailing for doing so first. My liner was really stuck so I did a variant. First I passed a 50lb loop of fishing line from the edge of the liner to the first support hole to get the edge of the liner loose. Then, instead of a single rope with a loop, I used one piece of rope looped over the pole with both rope ends coming out the support holes. This helped because in places where it was really stuck I could pull one side of the rope, then the other, to get it unstuck. It works best when pulling along the length of the pole so used rope that reached 2 support holes down from the stuck segment being worked on.

Just wanted to give my thanks to everyone who gave advice on this thread. I am having this issue as I take down my pool. This year I am re-leveling the pool (it wasn't done correctly the first time). For my first attempt, I tried the dowel method (actually a brook handle). It worked but our arms are noodles now and we're not done. So, ordering some PP braided rope and going to try the rope method next. Crossing fingers it will be easier!
