I need to keep the front tile of the swimming pool open for the next one or two weeks to prevent the dog from walking on the pool cover (he knows it lowers into the pool if he puts weight on it). This way he just walks down a couple steps, cools off, and runs back out.

The exposed part of the pool will contribute to depleting chlorine/algae growth, so I hung a gallon gug 1/3rd filled with cal hypo and holes drilled into it at the deep end of the pool. Will that help offset algae growth over the next 1-2 weeks until we are ready to open the pool/launch the pump?

So far the pool does not look to have become very green over the winter and I don't want to waste the water.
