Need to buy New Jandy Automation Controller + granular SWG control

I purchase a new home and have a older Jandy AquaLinkRS panel (L03RRS0007596) that is from 2003 I believe. I would like to upgrade so I can use my phone to control the system so I believe I need to buy a new controller (Jandy iAquaLink Smartphone, iPhone Web based Pool control Interface IQ20RS | eBay). I will need to buy a new heater, variable speed pump and filter in the next 12-24 months as they are all original. I just got a brand new AquaPure 1400 power center and cell from American Home Shield as it failed so I am guessing I should stick with Jandy. I would like to also ensure that my automation system is chosen with my end use in mind. It looks like most of the activities that need control like pump, heater, etc are no brainers. I would like to fully control my SWG from my phone (current percent generation). Is that possible? Thanks!

Hayward and Pentair are more commonly used control systems, at least by the folks on these forums. With both brands they can control a vs pump, of the same brand, if you go that route. Hayward panels, like the Prologic Controller I have, also controls the salt cell, so you don't need a seperate power supply box for your cell. Maybe you could sell your current Aquapure center and cell? OTOH, if you're ok with your Jandy panel then maybe its better to just stick with Jandy. Guess you need to see what it would cost to replace out the controller and add the capability to control via phone. Both Hayward and Pentair sell panels with varying features and pricepoints.

My research has shown that I would need to spend about $500 to upgrade my Jandy panel (see link above) for mobile and vs pump control. Since I am most likely getting a good financial contribution towards a new heater also (thank you American Home Shield), a new variable speed pump (thanks Austin, TX energy $300 rebate program) and will eventually need a new filter as it looks pretty old. I am at that point that I could ebay the SWG and buy a different manufacturer if encouraged so everything works together. Is that the suggested direction?

I did the same as you about 2 months ago, I upgraded the old Jandy automation with the new iAqualink WiFi one, I also swapped out my pump for an Pentair Intelliflow VS, the iAqualink can control the Inteliflow no problem, and it seems to control my old Pentair heater too, so if you want to stick with the 1400 SWG and Jandy automation you should be able to, however if I had my time again I think I would have gone screen logic 2, that's Pentair's phone automation system, I've only seen pics but It seems to be way ahead of the Jandy's clunky one, it works, but its basically a web portal you get on your PC in an app...

If the $$ is not an issue I would consider it, I've read way more posts praising the Pentair kit than I have Jandy, that said I'm still very new to all this, and my preference was based on not liking the automation app in iAqualink and wanting the IC60 SWG, I'll be putting in my Jandy 1400 in this weekend, as I could not afford to swap out the iAqualnik I bought a few months back, and for sure want my SWG to be linked to my automation.

So I guess what it comes down to is that the iAqualink will control Jandy/Pentair/others pumps and heaters, but will only control Jandy SWG, so if you want your SWG to be linked to your automation then you have to keep the brand the same for both (from all the info I can find)

FWIW, Jandy will control Hayward SWGs long as you have the right emulation mode configured (AL-5) before hooking it all up. If you don't have the emulation set correctly, you risk disabling all brand SWG controls on the board forever (or until you send out the chip to be re-flashed).
