Need timer for 1.5 HP above ground pool motor

I have a Hayward Power-Flo Matrix 2 speed, and the other day the two speed part of it failed. I'm not sure what happened exactly but it now only works as a normal one-speed pump. I looked into it and apparently parts for the two-speed timer portion and apparently, they're really hard to get and even if you can get them they're prohibitively expensive, so I'm stuck with a 1 speed pump now.

So instead I'd like to get a timer and just run at a single speed, but have the pump off for parts of the day. The pump is a 1.5 hp pump that draws 13.5A so I originally thought I could just get a 15A timer like this https://www.amazon.ca/Woods-50015-O...&qid=1534952867&sr=8-4&keywords=outdoor+timer But Ii remembers reading that because this is driving a motor I shouldn't exceed 1/3 the current rating. Is this true? if so is there any timers that can just be plugged in that will work (i.e. that aren't hard-wired)? Can anyone suggest a timer that will work and won't break the bank?

Just get the timer its fine.

I am not sure where the 1/3 current rating came from. I can imagine it may apply to standard time clocks from the hardware.

The time clock with link posted reads as suitable to pool pumps, and reads as $37.00 as I see it. Assume a two year life from it and I think it will be absolutely fine.

Yes repairing the VSD on the 2 speed will get silly expensive as manufacturers will build the prices up on spare parts to the industry. The other problem with these pumps is we swap a board to find it needs another board and so on. By the time you have swapped all the parts out to find out its a wire thats failed elswhere in the motor the client has a bill larger than their mortgage.
