I have a new Pentair TRII 60 sand filter with side Mount. This is the first time it is being winterized. I noticed after the pool service person drained the pipes that there is still some water in the sight glass on the multi port valve. The response I got back from the pool winterizing service person was that the sight glass was too tight and he didn’t want to break it, so he didn’t remove it. Does the sight glass typically get removed on this model TR 60 for winter?
I agree with him on the sight glass being very tight and perhaps not good idea to try to force to remove it as it might break.
In addition, it appears that there is a drain plug on the bottom of the filter that was still left in.
My pool service person claims he removed the plug and I am seeing the female end of the drain assembly and the drain plug feeds into that assembly.
The parts I see removed do not look fully like all the parts to the drain plug however. There is only one white type screw. Please see photos below. It appears the twist tie drain plug part is still attached to the filter or was screwed back on. The black twist plug removed and in the white skimmer basket photo below is the aspiration part on top of the filter.
Please advise on how I could further drain the water from this filter to get it out of sight glass and elsewhere to be safe. Is it possible to drain with a shop vac somehow? Should I be worried that my filter was not fully drained properly? Thanks for any help on this.
