Hey Everyone,
I am helping a friend build a rain waterfall that we'd like to plumb into the return line. He has an old set up with a 2hp whisperflo pump, the pool is approx 15x30 with spa attached and an overflo into pool. The valves set up is return to pool or return to spa via jets, the other valve is suction from pool drain, or suction from spa drain. There are two, 1" lines with ball valves off the spa side return line that I cannot figure out? In the pic below, one is missing the red handle. What do these do?
My question is can I plumb a 3 way jandy into the return line and divert some of the return to pool water to power the rain curtain. The pool plumbing is 2" and I planned to start the new plumbing at 1.5" with the jandy 3 way valve, then reducing to a final 3/4" copper 10' in length with 1/16th holes spaced and inch apart and running almost the entire length of the copper pipe. The 3/4" copper pipe will sit on curtain rod holders attached to the front of the pergola about 8' high and projecting the rainfall into the pool. I built a similar setup for another friend but he didnt want to plumb from pool so it is plumbed from a water line and used to fill the pool. It turned out very nice and with just the home water pressure can shoot 20'. Do I need to plumb in a bypass loop, or can I just cut into the return line and divert a little water for the rain curtain. Thank you for reading and please let me know if you require additional details for this set up.
