Hi Al! First of all thanks to all who have helped me in the past, I do appreciate it. Anyway, I have a Summer waves filter pump combo unit where the filtered water comes out the side of the bottom of the canister unit. On this particular model, the pump motor goes into the bottom of the canister and then a plastic lid or cap gets screwed on to hold the motor in. I would like to just take the motor our while I convert this pool to a sand filter and pump unit and by removing the motor I think it will improve the water pumping ability of the pump. There is a Summer Waves conversion kit that can be bought that includes the new solid lid or cap that is installed after removing the pump motor. This would be just what is needed, but spending $40 bucks for a plastic screw on lid/cap is outrageous! I am hoping someone here can offer a solution to finding an alternative to spending $40.00 for a .10 cent piece of plastic. Or perhaps there is another way to seal the canister

after removing the pump motor. Our current set up is shown hanging on the pool, and the conversion kit lid is shown by itself and also installed on the bottom of the canister. Thanks again to all who offer help and advice.
