Hello All and Happy New Year!

I have my SWG running at 50% as I turned it down a week ago.

My pool is now 4 months old and I still cannot get the chemicals right.

My CH started around 2000, and I have driven that down with water replacement slowly but surely.

I just added the following yesterday:
40lb bag of salt
Gallon of Muriatic Acid
5 lbs of Baking Soda

Today added 5 more lbs of Baking Soda, and going to grab some stabilizer now

I am going to lower my SWG to 30%, but looking for recommendations.

Any thoughts or ideas, please let me know.

Based on those test numbers, I would only add enough baking soda to increase the TA by 10-20 ppm. 40 is a bit low. Don't do or add anything else right now. If you add acid you'll pull the TA too low and end up playing this yo-yo game with pH & TA that will drive you nuts. The pH is fine up to 7.8. If the pH hits 8.0 or more, then go ahead and lower it to about 7.4-7.5. Try to avoid drastic chemical swings.

Over time, continue to exchange pool water to lower the CH and you'll do well. As for the FC, leave the SWG at a lower output and it will fall soon enough on its own.

The combination of TA 44 with pH 9.3 is also odd. pH above 9 is not just impossible to test with phenol red, also pretty much chemically impossible (at least highly unusual) at low TA.

Please make sure to base all your chemical additions on solid test results, or you'll be up for a rollercoaster ride.

Have you checked out the recommended test kits?

What Texas Splash said.

We have a similar size pool and also in Florida. This time of year I run my SWG (rated for a 40K pool) at 5-10% less than 8 hrs a day at most on a timer and some days I turn it off when the water is colder and less sunny and the Fc goes up. Our pool is more stable pH wise at a TA of 50-60. Above that I would have to add more acid more often at higher TAs particularly when the SWG has to run higher for longer periods of time in the summer. Also, I would not go above 60 on the CYA particularly if your pool is screened in like so many Florida pools. This time of year more than 30 or 40 CYA isn't really that necessary and if you are having to do more water replacement to drop calcium you are just wasting money to keep it up. Dial that in when you get your other numbers stable.

BTW, these are all Taylor kit numbers. It looks like you will be having to add acid more frequently now to get your TA down to 60 now over time.
