My Slam

Got a little sun today, so here's a better pic. Just tested around 3:45 and FC was 15. Got it back to 16 and will test again later tonight. Will try the OCLT again tonight.

Tested again around 7:30, and FC dropped to 14. I tested CYA at this time as well just to make sure I'm still using the right SLAM numbers. It was cloudy, but I could still see the black dot with the vial filled to the top. First time this was the case, but the other two were done in sunlight with my back to the sun. Not sure what difference that makes, but can't imagine it would be that drastic.

Anyway, since the CYA was low, I didn't add any additional FC and left it at 14. Tested again at 9:30 for the OCLT at it tested at 13. We didn't have much sun from 7:30 to 9:30 and it dropped 1ppm, so I'm not too confident that it won't drop more than that overnight. Starting to get discouraged since the water is looking so good and I've cleaned the pool completely once a day and twice today. No signs of any type of algae or even leaves/dirt at the bottom. We haven't put the ladder in, it's been out since last fall and we don't have any lights or any other places that algae could be hiding. I cleaned out the filter this morning and there was quite a bit of junk in there, though not too bad.

Here's hoping I pass tonight or it's going to be a long day at the office tomorrow. Actually, either way, it's going to be a long day. I've done very little but attend to this pool since around noon on Friday, I think I'm going to have withdrawl

FC was 11 this morning, which means I still didn't pass the OCLT. It was 13 last night, so only a 2ppm drop, which isn't bad. I added chlorine to get back to 16 and brushed the bottom this morning. We'll see how much of a drop we get while I'm gone all day. It's supposed to be cloudy all day with rain for most of the day, so hopefully I won't see much of a drop.

Finally made it home from work and was able to test the water. FC was at 12.5, presumably from 16 (I put in the amt from pool math to get it to 16 this morning). So only a 3.5 ppm drop in 12 hours of daylight. I don't think that's too bad.

I took the FC back to 16 and will test again in a couple of hours. It shouldn't move much, so I'll probably leave it and just perform the OCLT again tonight.

Just tested again and it's right at 16! I'm planning on doing the OCLT tonight and was wondering what time should I check before going to be. Reason I'm asking is that I just checked at 8pm. I have to leave and won't be back until 11:30-12:00. Should I use the test I just did, or test again at midnight? I'll be testing around 6 tomorrow morning to see if it passed. The rain has moved on so we will have a little sun for the next 20 minutes or so, so I'm afraid it's going to deplete a bit due to that, but I don't know if testing at midnight and then again at 6 is long enough for a true test.

Thoughts?

As always, thank you all for the help and guidance through this process. it's definitely helped me remain optimistic and not get (too) discouraged.

PASSED!!! When I got home last night around 11, I tested since I wanted to be sure that the last 30-45 minutes of sunlight didn't burn off any of the FC and it tested at 15. Got up this morning and it was still at 15!!

1. CC is at 0
2. Passed OCLT
3. Water is clear

So, now what? I haven't tested anything besides FC & CC in the last couple of days. I tried taking CYA, but the lighting conditions were so different than my previous tests that I didn't trust it. Do I wait until FC comes down below 10 to run the entire battery of test?

Had a feeling you would! Congrats!
Now let your FC drift below 10 and run a full set of tests.
