Hello TFP! My story is all too familiar so I will be brief. I bought a pool this February (came with a house). I got pool stored but not horribly. I overshot my CYA, classic! Promptly discovered TFP and got back on track. Got a TFPro Kit. Had a sparkling pool for a few months. Thought I was hot stuff. Then the horrible realization that my CYA was too high for me to manage. I did a water exchange by filling at the bottom and draining from the skimmer and I've got it down to at least 70 (one of my several tests I got a 60). I'm pretty confident in my tests. Pool Store gave me a 50CYA using the Taylor "raising dot" test). Problem is my fill water is a nightmare. PH is low 6's. The morning after my exchange, the whole pool had an emerald green hue. still clear, just green. I figured iron after reading on here, and it went away in about 36hrs. But now i'm left with the attached green/brown stuff accumulating on the bottom every day, and an ever so slight cloudiness in the deep end. I had the fill water tested after the exchange. Copper is .4 PPM according to local pool store (don't know what kind of test they did). I assume it's from my pipes.

I think I already know what I have to do (SLAM), but I'm here for some additional advice or guidance if you have any.

Two nights ago I added LC and tested at 6 FC and Zero CC. Last night, so 24hrs later, I tested at 3FC. This morning, still at 3FC and Zero CC. So I passed my OCLT (I realize 3FC is below the recommended level, I have a new baby and have to test and add chems at night, he woke up and I had to leave it at 3FC instead of adding and retesting) I added a gallon of LC this morning before work to bring her up to 7FC according to PoolMath.

I'm picking up enough LC from Wally World to start a SLAM just in case. Here's my dilemma/question. I leave home at 7AM and get home at 5:30PM. Will I be able to maintain a SLAM by getting up to the level required (i'm assuming slightly above will be necessary), testing as soon as I get home, adding LC, and testing again and adding before bedtime? Thanks again for your help. Attached is evidence of the culprit taken this morning.

Welcome to #TeamPoolStored!!!

Welcome too to TFP!!!

How are you testing your water? Link-->Test Kits Compared

If you have one of these test kits, I would do this test tonight to see if you have algae...Link==>Overnight Chlorine Loss Test

SLAM can be done with your work schedule, it will just take longer. If you can do every couple hours late into the night, that will help too.

Sorry you are in this situation.

With a CYA of 70, I'd get some FC in that pool post haste!!! I'd run your pool 8-10 FC!!! Link-->FC/CYA Levels

Add a gallon and a half of liquid chlorine now if you have it.

Minimum is 5 for CYA 70. Minimum is LAVA.

Get it up and redo the OCLT. With FC that low and CYA that high, and cloudy pool...I'd do the oclt again with chlorine appropriate for your CYA.

FC was at 4 last night, losing 3PPM throughout the day, consistent with what I've tested previously. Added a gal of 10% LC to bring her up to 8FC and performed another OCLT, which passed, still Zero CC's.
I realized that my Dolphin cleaner is missing the fine filter and only has the mesh cage, so I need to get that for it. I haven't done any brushing yet but I also need to brush everything up and see if the filter will grab some of it.

Did you test that 8FC, or is that what you expected based on the addition?
