Purchased a 25 year old home with an older pool. We thought we had leaks and were concentrating on finding them. During the process, our pool water chemistry got out of whack. Long story short: We’ve been battling what appears to be mustard Algae. Finally found someone to give our pool an acid bath. We plan to replaster in October after our swim season ends.
So this was interesting. We got most of the stains out and the tile cleaned via the acid bath and brushing for 48 hours. Tile was manually cleaned by the pool company we hired. So, we now have a much cleaner, algae free pool. We are pleased as we battled this for at least a month. —
Sometimes it’s just too much work for the old people.
So now hoping to keep it under control.
We also replaced our single speed pump for a VS. so we are very pleased with our progress.
I’ll post again when we start the restoration of deck, and plaster, and coping.
Any suggestions on how to keep this pool algae free in this 112 degree weather?
Chlorinating, testing water and using the dolphin.
