Subject says it all. we will drain this winter, Phoenix is 106 right now, don’t want to crack plaster, etc).

Questions:
  • turn off SWG? It’s not making a dent, in fact, came here because I thought it was broken
  • I keep dumping in chlorine and brushing just to keep the algae it at bay
  • at this point, can I just use pucks too to help? or bags of shock? CYA high but we’ll be draining in a few months anyway.

I doubt the chlorine will do much good with a CYA of 200+ Pucks only add more CYA.

Consider a simultaneous drain/refill. It will keep your plaster protected and start to work on your CYA.

You will be undertaking a BIG job but, with patience and comprehension of the task, it will go smoothly.
