Rented a mini skidsteer to level the area in the yard - was originally going for 40'x24' area for 32'x16' above ground intex rectangle pool, but ended up with 35'x20' due to bad weather and rental time. Will this be enough space?
Like a lot of others, it's been raining a LOT and this weekend showed a window of sunshine so I took it after waiting for weeks. I used a transit and probably measured well over 200 times at various stages throughout the 2 day event - me working alone. Unfortunately, it started to rain for about 30 minutes the first day, making the clay soil difficult to work with in the afternoon. Then the next day, 6-161-9 - Sunday, it was clear all day until nearly 7pm and then it POURED. Like CRAZY RAIN thunderstorm, so I was hurrying just to get dirt removed for the proper grade before the storm rolled in; though there are some spots that are 3 inches off (looks worse in the pics). I was stopping frequently to check the weather because I had to return the skidsteer this morning (was about $277 for the one day rental from Friday to Monday with the trailer + $10 diesel refuel before returning). So, the rain makes this mess look like the pool scene from the end of Poltergeist (1982 of course!). I was planning to level the rest by hand. The water is still there this afternoon, though it rained more here today - it's standing water and not draining quickly, and it's suppose do rain for the next week. The wet clay made it very difficult to be even and smooth across the entire area ~ 35'x20' for the 32'x16' pool.
Any advice on drainage around the pool, or modifications from here - there is still plenty of grade to my yard towards the back fence of probably 4-6 inches from the area closest to the fence that I leveled to. I have all the dirt still (behind that fence in an easement that I maintain - long story about that).
