Im using a 5 gal bucket to dissolve applicable chemicals before adding to pool when applicable. What does everyone use as a stir stick? Wood, metal, plastic, other??

Pretty much no one mixed them in a bucket. We add them straight to the pool.
What chemicals are you mixing in a bucket? Why do you think they need to be pre-mixed prior to adding to pool?
What type pool do you have?

A piece of 1/2" pvc pipe works well as a stir stick.
Don't let chemicals get stuck in the pipe.
Reminder: Never mix different chemicals in the same bucket at the same time.
Clean everything well before and after using.

example: i added some ph down and instructions said to mix with water in a bucket first and then add to pool.

Many (most) use Muriatic Acid (MA) instead of pH down. pH down adds sulfates to the pool water, which can cause issues. See this old thread:
