I just finished my 6th day of SLAM'ing my pool and wanted to make sure I am on the right track and not missing something.
Was on vacation and came home on Wed, July 26th to a green pool. Talking to neighbors who used it, it wasn't like that 24-48 hours prior.
At no point have I seen algae growing on any of the pool surfaces.
I kept non-SLAM Chlorine levels Thursday / Friday / Saturday, testing Chlorine multiple times a day while getting the other tests in-line and brushing 1x-2x a day. The pool was "clear" by Saturday AM - no longer was sweeping in the morning turning up stuff on the bottom. However, I failed an OCLT test and started my SLAM that night (Saturday night).
CYA of 70. Using 10% bleach. Dallas, TX based. It has been 100+, full sun every day of SLAM. Pool gets direct sunlight from 8AM until 6PM.
Since the SLAM has started, I have brushed daily, nothing is settling out of the water nor do I see anything growing. I cleaned the cartridge filters on day 2 or 3. I used a bristle brush like you would clean care tires with to hit around the jets and the nicheless LEDs (reading forums, they don't look to come out...). I used a tooth brush to reach in as far as the fill line as I could, pouring a little bleach in the other end. I took out the skimmer covers and soaked them in a solution with some bleach. I used a screwdriver and rag to clean out the debris in the umbrella hole on the sun ledge.
My FC readings and gallons of 10% bleach used are below. Morning is taken ~7am (it is light out, but no sun on pool). Mid-day is 1PM or so. Evening generally 6-7PM after the direct sunlight done. Night #1 was taken 9-10PM. If any bleach was added then, I generally added it, brushed, and then took a last reading for the day ~45mins to an hour after adding (the + gallons under EOD is total added that day).
Am I missing anything? Are my levels dropping to low and working against me? On the right track and just need to stick with it?
Thanks all!
