Another tip for removal in spring. Cut the business end off any bit, place bit in your drill and screw those anchors down to release the spring. Zero need for removal tool.
That's the perfect height. The non threaded (undercut) portion is designed to be protruding and where the thread starts should be flush to the deck. If you set them lower then this the dirt has where to get into the sleeve and complicate things in the spring when you set them flat into the pool deck.
