Master Pools In Floor system to Robotic Cleaner

I have an old Master Pools in floor system from the early 80's that has given me years of mediocre service.
My pump just went out and replaced it with a Sta-Rite Intellipro VSF Pump.
I want to go to a robotic cleaner and was hoping I can turn the RPM's down on the pump and use the in floor system as a return.
Any advice or technical knowledge would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Should be no issue. Not sure if the robot would work better with the pump running or off -- you might have to experiment.

At the low rpm, the popups hopefully do not rise. Might want to check that.

I assume your pool does not have any regular pool returns?

You should be able to return your suction to the skimmer from the main drain.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I was experimenting and it takes about 2800-3000 rpms to get the heads up. I was going to pull the drive assembly out of the port valve body so I don't think the heads will pop even at 2800 or above.

The drive assembly isn't running too smooth and needs replaced so I was going to take the $$ that I would have spent on the assembly and put it towards a robot. Based off of everything I've read on this site I should be a lot happier
