I am renovating our 40 year old marble plaster pool (called “marble sheen” in Australia).
I am deciding how much plaster to remove prior to pebble plaster recoat.
The marble plaster has clearly defined patches which are failing. The plaster is soft and crumbling in these areas. My 3000 watt electric pressure blaster with needle nozzle will remove this material, but not the surrounding plaster, which is hard and appears to be original thickness.
I would like to remove the soft patches, whilst leaving the hard plaster in place. A full chip out seems excessive given 90% of the plaster is quite hard.
What do you guys recommend? Remove these patches? Full chip out?
