Main Circuit to ET8

I am installing an ET8 with a 220v/60amp circuit in my main panel, but I'm unsure of the conduit and conductor/wire size that is required. The ET8 will be about 60' from my main panel.

I will be installing:

  • 1 - Pentair VS Pump
  • 1 - 400k BTU heater
  • IC 40 SWG
  • 3 - 120v Pentair 5g color LED pool lights (all on same circuit)
  • 1 - 120v Pentair 5g color LED spa light (separate from pool lights)

A few questions...

  1. I was thinking 4 awg in 1" PVC conduit.
  2. Will I run 2 Hot, 1 Neutral, 1 ground or will the neutral serve as the second hot?
  3. Does the breaker in main need to be GFI or only the breakers in the ET8 out to Pump and Lights?
  4. Is 220v/60amp adequate for equipment? I believe so and I only have a 125amp main, so I'm limited, but I won't be upgrading the panel for this project.

I appreciate any advice!

Hi XYZ, thanks for the feedback.

60amp as I will be using the ET8 as subpanel for all future landscape electrical since my main path will be covered by concrete.

I haven't purchased the conductor yet, but I'd prefer running a single 4 if I can find it.

Thanks!

Ok. Definitely way more than you need right now. Depending on number of turns you may find 1.25 gives you a little breathing room. I always include a piece of strong twine in with a conduit in case I ever want to run another line.

If if you have an ET8, you may want to run a cat6 Ethernet in case you want to go with the screenlogic.
