I think I know why. The shallow end light wire barely made it to the panel. There was likely not enough slack to pull the light. I will have them put in a deck box.

Well it wasn't either niche. Do the pool is now totally drained and I have blowers running keeping the liner in. Leak checking tomorrow.
It's got to be in the liner, niche or around a fitting. I woludnt think its a pipe, they were capped off all winter.
If there was a main drain it wasn't capped. I would suspect that it is the light conduit. Have had this happen. A $5 cord stopper would of been my first try before draining a brand new liner.

No skin off his nose either on the liner, pools under warrenty. Big JD wont be out a dime getting this fixed. His builder's a stand up guy.
