Newbie salt water pool owner here. When chlorine goes low, I typically bump up SWG production for a day or so, and I’m good. However, my CYA has also been low (like, 17-30ish most of the season). I’ve never added chlorine directly to the pool. What’s the best way to raise both chlorine and CYA? Pool math says adding 4.8oz of trichlor will raise FC by 2.5, raise CYA by 1.5, lower pH by 0.13, and raise Salt by 2.
1. Should I add tricolor, and if so, how? Directly to the pool? Into the skimmer? I don’t have an inline chlorinator.
2. Should I also add stabilizer to address CYA since raising it by 1.5 with the trichlor seems like it won’t even make a dent in my super low reading? Or
wait until chlorine is good and retest CYA again before adding stabilizer?
Thanks for any advice!
