Traditional recommended levels for Total Alkalinity are ~80-120. Trouble Free Pool has a lower recommended range. E.g. for our pool it recommends 60-80 with recommended minimum of 50.
I would rather run at the lower end (50-60) as it keep pH much more stable, however I am concerned of it hurting the plaster. I have read on other sites that low TA (e.g. lower than 100) is bad for plaster, as it encourages degradation and etching of the plaster surface.
Thoughts?
