Loss of chlorine

After reading this site combined with rising CYA levels from Trichlor tablets , decided to move to liquid chlorine. Pool novice so very little knowledge.

I’m having an issue keeping FC and TC levels stable since moving to liquid about one week ago. Pool water is clear. Don’t know if it matters but also have a UV and ozone system.

Chemistry details below from Taylor testing this morning around 9 AM. Newly constructed Plaster pool, about 7 months ago.

pH - 7.8
Alk - 90
FC - 3 ppm
CH - 350 ppm
CYA - 70

Re-checked at around 2 pm

FC - 0
TC - 0
other variables same as above.

Exposed to lots of sunlight and pool temps consistently 86-90*

Any help would be appreciated.

Additional info, added 1 gallon 10% chlorine last night.

Welcome to TFP! The biggest issue with your test results is obviously the lack of free chlorine. At this point it would be advisable to increase the FC to about 6-8 ppm with liquid chlorine. Keep it there this evening then (schedule permitting) do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. At this point it's best to rule out algae.

If you pass the OCLT, great. If you fail the OCLT, then you'll need to implement a SLAM Process.

Don’t know if it matters but also have a UV and ozone system.

These will consume/oxidize your fc if they are actually working- turn them off.
With adequate fc they aren’t needed- as you said you get plenty of uv exposure in your location as it is.
Get your fc into target range for your cya asap so nasties don’t grow & you don’t risk falling below minimum again.

FC/CYA Levels
Your cya is a little high for a manually chlorinated pool but it’s manageable so long as you maintain adequate fc levels.
