I finally decided to join and think I'm ready to start testing my water myself, instead of countless trips to Leslie's. My pool is most often in good condition, at least from what it looks like, and the results I get from the store. Most often just needs acid and chlorine. I did have a couple questions though after reading through multiple posts
1) Are there any good videos on using the TF-PRO test kit besides what's on the TF100TestKit youtube channel? Speaking of, I just ordered the TF-PRO with standard sampler. I will update my results once it comes in. But any other resources on testing instructions would be appreciated.
2) I currently use only the powder plus 73 shock. Seems like liquid is the way to go though. Is that something I should switch to immediately?
3) I've been battling black algae the past 2 summers. I've read and watched just about everything on it at this point, including this forum. Seems like keeping the chlorine at the correct level and not letting it dip may be the only way to control it, as I'm convinced it just lives deep in my pebble-tec at this point. When it does start popping up, I get aftter it with a wire brush to knock it loose. Not so much a question regarding this, but more an observation. I may post in another thread regarding this after I test to see what other options there are.
Anyways, glad to be a part of the TFP community and looking forward to no more trips to Leslie's!!
