'Tis that season again....and took 5+ days and 15+ gal of liquid chlorine (more than usual) to clear up the water, which is a bit more than usual (mostly due to us being lazy to fill up the pool to vacuum most of the algae/junk). 2022 season was awesome (basically no work) while 2023 was a nightmare (especially with iron / metal staining). Fingers crossed.

I used GLB last season and seemed to help a bit at the end of the season. I am trying Jack's Purple again this season - should I use both? Is there a "best time" to put Jack's Purple in the pool (e.g., when Chlorine is low and water is clear, etc.). Thanks and looking forward to our interaction again this season!!

Wow - that's a heck of a transformation. Are you thinking your water is already metal-laden and you're trying to prevent staining? Or is there staining not shown in these photos?

Based on what I see, I don't know that I'd think you should do anything.

Been dealing with iron staining (brown) last few years with tons of ascorbic acid. Repaired the wall / skimmer basket in the past as well. (Rust Around Skimmer Plates)

Maybe I didn't have enough sequestrant (been using Jack's Purple or GLB) and always use Culator (4.0)...I know it is coming back and will see this season is better
