I have just purchased a bag of Leslie pool supply D.E. pool filter powder and have a question about it compared to other brands. It seems to per-moisten as to not be as airborne when scooping it out of the bag. I have a 36 sq.ft D.E. filter that requires 3.6 lbs or 7 of Leslie blue scoops (each scoop is suppose hold about .5 lbs) of powder refilling after complete breakdown cleaning . Today I weighted the powder on my digital scale as was scooping and 4 scoops weighted 3.6 lbs, not the 7 scoops as suggested on the bag. Anyone if Leslie's D.E. is treated somehow that is causing to weight more and scoop differently ?

That is interesting!-Now you have me wondering what they could possibly do to change it so? I've only purchased one box of "HTH Pool Filter Aid" (aka DE) before. It didn't go airborne, now that I recall?
I know there is something different about agricultural DE vs pool DE, but even then I'm not sure what makes it different?
I wonder if it is absorbing moisture which is causing it to weigh heavy??
OK, consider this a bump and maybe someone smarter than me (like about 99% here, lol!) has the answer.

Did you pay for a weight of DE, like 12 pounds?

I have used other brands of DE in the past and have always worn a mask as to not breath in the airborne DE. The Leslie's DE does not get airborne like the others so I believe its pre moistened in some way which is throwing the weight and measurements off .
