LED Bulb Help

I know this topic has been covered a few times, but I didn’t seem to find much information about it.

I am currently having an IG pool built. I didn’t want to splurge on the LED fixture for the simple reason it was a hellva lot of money and if it goes out it’s a total replacement. Instead I am getting the Hayward 500w Astrolite in the pool and the Astrolite II 100w in the spa. Prior to install and pool fill, I want to open both lights up and switch the bulbs out for LED. Oddly this seems like a popular thing to do and really easy...BUT...there is hardly any info out there for bulb types and reviews.

Please help with ANY advice or information!! I’m looking for personal experience here.

THANKS EVERYONE!!

I have replaced my spa and pool bulbs with the LXG color changing bulb from J and J electronics - now owned by Halco. These are compatible with the Pentair color changing functions if you had automation. I really like them both. I've got 120v lights, but they also sell 12v if you have those.

Thanks for the information! I went to the site but it tells me I have to log in for a price. Do I have to be a member to buy from them or pool company?

Good deal. I can see the price now. $260 is up there compared to what I’ve seen for other brands. How is the brightness compared to Florida SunSeeker? That is the brand I have been able to find some info on and the $160 price tags w/ a gasket is much more appealing.
Next question...and this is probably more of an opinion. This bulb will be replacing a new light install during pool construction. Do you think I need to replace the gasket during the bulb swap if it hasn’t been underwater? If I can save $30 bucks I’m down! LOL

I don't have any way to compare to the FL Sunseeker product. I have seen others here on the site mention them however. My niches and lights are Amerlite niches by Pentair and are about 5 years old. Standard screw in 120v bulbs. Some of the newer lights look to be LED only and would never retrofit in to an old screw in style base. So just confirm the bulb will fit what you have and purchase what makes sense.

The Halco/J and J bulb I ordered came with a new gasket and I don't know how long your light has been enclosed in the housing and tightened down. If the PB does it as he puts it in, maybe the gasket would work. If it was put together in a factory last year and has been clamped down the whole time I wouldn't trust it. Your pool light housing and new bulb cost several hundred bucks, I would spend the money on a new seal, you don't want to have to replace it all because the seal might fail.
