Leaking Pump

Hi all, recently discovered a leak on the pump. Link to video showing...

I’m handy, but this is a new thing for me. It’s not coming from the pump seal, that’s to the right of the leak... so it’s coming from the motor itself?

The pump seems to still be running fine, sounds more or less the same. Problem seemed to develop when the weather warmed up. Daily run time has not changed.

It’s a 1 speed, 1 hp. If a replacement pump is needed, I need a replacement for $200, absolutely no more than $300, any suggestions?

Thanks for any pointers on how to explore, how to take it apart, or things to check. I have a whole day tomorrow to check it out.

It's a leaking shaft seal. The bearings have gotten wet and you can hear that they are not running smooth any more. It's only a matter of time before the motor begins to get very loud.

Maybe consider replacing the motor while you have the pump apart.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Took about 45min to open up the pump, call the store to see if parts were in, get parts and close it back up.

I replaced the shaft seal and the two rubber seals on the inside baffle parts.

I saw some corrosion on the motor by the shaft, my plan is/was to get a VS pump for next season... SWG was this year big purchase. So I’m just hoping for one more year of life from this one.

Thank again
