We are in the process of replacing our concrete pool deck with pavers and relocating the equipment pad.
Concrete was demolished and I have re-plumbed to the new equipment location. I have set up a pressure test on each of the lines.
The skimmer is plumbed with the main drain into it and then 2" line to the pump suction. I have a winterizing standpipe in the main drain connection and a winterizing plug in the pump suction connection.
With only a couple of psi on the line, I get bubbles from the screw hole in the center bottom of the skimmer. (Bubbles photo)
In the Skimmer outlet photo, you can see that the "thread bottoming out ring" (?) is cracked and broken off for part of the circumference. Perhaps at some point a fitting may have been over-tightened in there?
Maybe that has created an internal micro crack that I cannot see?
1. Has anyone seen this type of issue?
2. For a pressure test of just the piping, I could get an inflatable test plug and get it down into the piping elbow at the bottom of the skimmer.
3. For a possible crack in the skimmer, perhaps a schmear of epoxy around the circumference of the fitting below the "thread bottoming out ring"?
4. In actual operations, the skimmer piping will not have any pressure on it, so maybe it won't be an issue?
