LC Into Skimmer?

I've always poured my LC in front of a return directly in front of a return jet the way TFP recommends. I was wondering would it be harmful to any equipment to pout it directly into skimmer? What are the downsides in adding LC directly into the skimmer?

The chemical changes high doses of liquid chlorine cause before it is diluted and consumed can damage your equipment.

You want your dilute the effects of the liquid chlorine by adding it yo yhe pool before it hits your equipment.
