Landscaping Issues

Yesterday they constructed my pool. I am a little upset. My pool is on a slope and the installer told me that I should not fill in the hole around it with earth or gravel. I do plan to install a drainage pipe with a little gravel but have seen pictures of above ground pools where the ground came up around to the top. He said not to because it shortens the life of the pool significantly. Now I am left with a pool and no way to get in it. I would love to have a deck up to the pool from the back patio but now have no idea how to stabilize the end of the deck by the pool due to the gap left. Any ideas would really be appreciated. Thank you in advance!9640.jpg9636.jpg

Some pools are rated for partial burial and some are not. I had about a 14" slope form one side to the other and backfilled it. Yours looks much deeper than that. It may be that a retaining wall is in your future to keep the dirt off your walls. Did you use a sand cove or a foam cove? I ask because you probably still need to backfill a couple inches around the bottom to keep the sand from washing out. I'd look through your manual and see if they recommend that.

Use the search box on the upper right of the page to find deck builds on sloped yards or AGP retaining walls. There have been a number of members that have had to deal with this issue.

I dont see why you cannot put a deck there. Just dig postholes close to the pool and then further back. the ones nearest the pool would just have to be a bit longer. If you are going to do any sand backfill I would do the near postholes first.
