We’ve found the best way to keep our pool cover on throughout the winter without any problems from wind, snow or ice is to use Velcro. We purchased a box and cut small strips and placed them about every 2 feet. One on the side of the pool and one on the cover. They held super tight all winter. You may need to remove and replace them the following year but it’s a really good and inexpensive fix.
