I'm running a new backwash pipe and was thinking about how to keep critters out. Do you guys do anything special? I didn't want them to get in to the PVC and burrow. I'm not sure if they reasonably would or not. I tried this mesh termination cap. However, the pressure from the backwash just shot it right off. I thought about using some PVC cement, but I'm worried it will get too clogged. The couple times I did run it, it did have some blockage.

If I had this problem I would slip fit that mesh cap for 99% of the time this pipe sits unused then pull it off during the backwash. Reinstall the cap after you finish and leave it on until you backwash again.
