Hey there! I've been a long-time beneficiary of all your advice on TFP. Thank you!! However, I need to ask something specific now about my SLAMMING process. We have a 20,000 gal. in-ground pool and have been SLAMMING it for a few weeks- keeping levels right, testing and waiting and vacuuming and scrubbing as much as possible. The water is now very clear except for this cloudy white debris on the bottom of the pool- presumably dead algae. When I vacuum it, it blows back into the pool through the jets and my hubby thinks the debris is too small for the filters to grab it. So, we rigged up the hosing so we can vacuum to waste but it gets so cloudy, I cannot see what I'm doing (and get really frustrated.) Will more chlorine get rid of this stuff eventually or should I just keep draining and refilling the pool until it's all gone??? Would like to know when to stop SLAMMING and how to get rid of the dead algae. If you would like specific numbers from testing I can do that. Thank you to anyone who responds- I'll appreciate any advice!

Welcome to the forum. :wave::wave:

I think you are on the wrong track. If the debris on the pool floor is white, as you say, that's not algae and really has nothing to do with your SLAM.

ajw22 has the best advice.....perform the OCLT.

Debris should NOT be coming back to the pool. What is your psi? what type filter do you have? When was it last deep cleaned?
