Normally when I test for salt using the K-1766 I will do a hand swirl but today I tried my speed stir and received different results. Speed Stir- 13 drops and Hand Swirl- 17 drops. Taylor's direction sheet states "Swirl to mix".

Speed Stir certainly will mix better and faster than hand but the range between 2600 to 3400ppm is a lot.

How is everyone testing?

My brother owned a pool for over 30 years. Last time he visited, I showed him speed stir and we did speed stir vs swirl, he used swirl method. FC was 1ppm different. I love my speed stir!

I don't test for salt. But with the TA test, I have to wait for a few seconds after every drop even with a magnetic stirrer. If the salt-test reaction is slow like the TA test, then with hand stirring I think you could certainly be on the 17th drop by the time the 13th drop fully reacts.

I always thought the Speed Stir was a little gimmicky until I got one. What a game changer! Now add the Sample Sizer and testing is a piece of cake😁!

The only pause I have with the TA is wiping the tip between droplets on a newish reagent but the magnetic stirr never stops till I'm done.
Sorry, I probably could have explained myself more clearly.

I run the stirrer continuously during the test. But the reaction is slow -- sometimes you can see red and green simultaneously as the reaction progresses through the solution -- so I add drops slowly (maybe 3-5 seconds between drops) to give the reaction time to fully work after each drop.

Before I learned about the static-electricity issue with the R-009, I thought the instructions to wipe the tip after each drop were just a clever way to force people to go slow.

Funny thing… I didn’t know Siri could do math. I learned something new today
9 times out of 10 I don't even take the phone out the pocket. The answers are still clear as day, or she still understands to text (kid) I'm on my way to pick them up. (Etc etc etc)
