Just received TF-100 Need Help

In the meantime, try to get FC to 4 (no higher without CYA) so it can sanitize that water.

Yes, I had to look it up but 2,4,6 Trihydroxy-s-triazine is a chemical synonym for Cyanuric Acid

So you may use 1lb10oz of that applied using the sock method - since you're in a hurry, feel free to gently massage it in front of the return to encourage dissolving faster. Feel free to wear rubber/disposable gloves if it freaks you out, but you'll be fine if you just wash your hands after.

After you get that going (do you understand sock method?) you can add liquid to bring FC up to 10 or 12 at most.

I never did it but I remember reading a post about someone putting it in a sock and hanging it in front of the return?

Correct! Make sure the sock is hung in such a way as it doesn't touch the liner to avoid damage (the CYA is a bit acidic and you don't want the concentrate touching your liner constantly). You can use your hands to mash the sock (knead it like bread) every so often to speed up the dissolving process.

I did as the bucket said little amounts into skimmmer and help dissolve. It's all done.

How long before I can check the levels and try to increase the FC level?

Here's one variation. The normal method is described in this Pool School Article
attachment.php

I suggest caution using heavy/sharp objects with liners - instead rope/zip ties/bungie cords with hooks and hanging from hose draped over edge all seem safer to me. I've had great luck with bungie cords to edge, as well as hanging from hose via zip tie/rope with a rock on the hose outside the pool on the ground.

Okay then! So then don't backwash for a couple days since some may be trapped in the sand. If you have a brush, give the floor a brushing too - ESPECIALLY the angle where the water blows out of the return

I'd run the pump 24/7 until the water is crystal - as long as it is running, testing FC after 30 mins is the gold standard. Sooner than 15 is a waste of testing chems, but if your circulation is great in that small pool, FC might be accurate after 15-20 mins.

Great. Thank you so much everyone. When I get back home. I will try to increase the FC level and brush bottom of the pool incase anything made it through. I will also continue to let the filter run.

As far as the filter goes I feel as I have to backwash like every 2 weeks or so. Is there anything else I should be doing to the filter to maintain it?

So readings this morning are about 15 for CYA and 3.5 for FC.

Should I try and continue to raise it today with everyone coming over later?

After the swimming is 100% done, do FC and CC test (always 10ml sample/instructions, never 25ml) post what it was and bring FC up to 10-12. Bathers generally crash the FC hard, good to keep notes of how much extra FC you need for parties (but I always just bring it up to shock level for your current cya or just below (never over)

I did lose some water but nothing I had to refill. The pool was kinda over fillled prior to party lol. Water actually looks great and no smell at all.

Oh my that's a pretty pool! What a picture!

No smell is perfect, water looks great! See the bottom clearly? (minus the waves)

If you still have the CYA water mixed, keep it and do the test in the bright sun tomorrow. The sample stays good for at least a week since CYA doesn't break down. If you dumped it, mix up another tube of the 50/50 and test tomorrow in daylight, testing it a few times and taking an average. We really want a high confidence in this test. Need video/pictures? We have em!

Bring FC up to 4 if you have some bleach on hand. If not, shopping list addition!

SWG on? Setting?
