I have just received the Hayward S244T sand filter that I ordered, and it's replacing an old leaking filter that frozen and cracked this winter. The pool was not winterized or closed, and is now a bright green swamp.
My question is, do you think it would be reasonable to use the old sand in the new filter until we get the pool cleaned out since it's in such nasty shape, or would it be better to use new sand to potentially clean up this mess faster, even though it will thoroughly contaminate the new sand?
Also I have no real idea what I'm doing in general, as I just purchased this house a couple of weeks ago, so my logic could be completely off lol.
