Im new here, though I have been on this site the past 3 years frantically trying to figure out what to do :/
I have an intex pool because I don’t have room or money for a big one though I wish I could. It’s a 1,700 gallon with the metal poles. I know it’s laughable to call it a pool compared to everyone here— but it’s where my kid talks to me and we can look up at the stars and pretend we aren’t in this city.
I had it up all winter but I drained it at the end of last summer. Obviously I had to drain it again before filling it because it got snow and rain . So I drained and then siphoned (can’t spell) what was left .
I filled it with my garden hose- city water- I put a Clorox puck in a floater and then the pump hasn’t been off except for when we’ve been in it.
I started with adding the alkalinity rise, got it to the right spot, then it rained a little bit and the chlorine and alkalinity were still good so in started added ph rise. I got the ph to the right level.
I didn’t add stabilizer because the puck — but yesterday it was sunny and the solar cover made the water warm, I tested the water and no chlorine showed so I put the floater on highest setting and went to buy stabilizer. I came back home and My levels were all good chlorine was back .
So last night I decided to add the algaecide because it says to add it to new water. I figured I’d add the stabilizer today.
I woke up at four am to check the pool and i move the solar cover and there’s like brownish(?) foam kinda that looks like it built up from the water jet into the pool . It wasn’t a ton of it but now I see it on the floor of the pool like it sunk.
But my water was pretty yesterday!?!?
I’m just so sad cause I went and bought new chemicals this year and I was thinking I’ll get it right this time and I already failed.
I don’t know what to do.
What is the film.
If it’s algae it happened so fast like three days and I’m trying to figure out what it is online and I’m afraid it’s an algae that I read is resistant to chlorine…
I have an intex filter pump and I don’t think I can even hook a Vac up to it??? I have one of those vacs that attaches to the garden hose.
Does anyone know what to do I feel like giving up because I’ve read so many things online over the years and i can’t ever get it right.
I was planning on adding the stabilizer today and then this week buying liquid chlorine without stabilizer . But I just saw that this morning and added some more algaecide instead of the stabilizer. Should I still add the stabilizer I mixed it in a bucket like it said to but now it’s sitting in my garage.
If anyone replies, thank you….Kazie
