Just Bought My First Case of Liquid Chlorine For 2025! Help With Date Codes?

CDS brand LC purchased at my local Rural King store for 16.99/case. I saw they just got some in stock and had to buy out of sheer principal in anticipation of the upcoming pool season. But I digress.......I think the first set of numbers mean this batch of LC was bottled on the 49th day of 2025, so basically just made. What do the other numbers mean?

No idea on the other parts of the codes. Probably doesn't matter and some internal plant#, state (IL), line, operator codes, product code, brand coding...

Do the bottles have both #s with 25xxxxxxx ?

In this, um, case (hehe), they're both plenty fresh and close in date, but we don't know which is the right one from the box. Maybe the other 25something # is their normal product code or whatever and it just happens to look Julian.

Yes! The bottles have same code. So bottled mid Feb and Purchased at my local RK a few days later. I'll check back at my RK to see if there are newer cases for purchase at that time but for now, I'm quiet pleased with my purchase.

Also, just so I understand could the second number be a "best if used by" sort of date? That would put it about 7 months from the bottled date....things that make me go "hmmmm"?

It doesn't really matter beyond the manuf. date. You want to use it within about 6-9 months of manuf. How it's stored is key. The hotter the storage the shorter the lifespan.

No. Its 25/021xxxxx. Which is Jan 21. Or maybe this one is a traditional date. (You missed the 0 and wanted it to be day 217)

if its a date, It's awfully close 25/ 02/17 to the Julian 25049 which is 2/18. Will be interesting to see on future bottles if the gap widens because the 2nd one is a product# and stays the same, or they stay close because it's bottled on / boxed on. (Etc)

The 1st # on the jug should be the bottle date. On the box it's harder to tell because they're above one another.
