This plastic nut with the threads cracked so the pump is not pressurizing. This is for the water feature and spa, not the vs speed pool pump. Can I still run the pool but turn off the water feature and spa cycles? The kit takes takes two days to arrive.

Also, the pump is probably 10+ yrs old. Is 1.5hp overkill? Pool is 29k

You will have a large suction leak, regardless of where the water is being sent. It could damage the shaft seal if the pump runs dry. If that is a separate pump from the filtration, just keep it off until the repair can be made.
If it is used solely for spa jets and/or a water feature, it is likely fine at 1.5hp.

Thanks and it looks like I will have to cut the pipe coming up from the ground to get the broken part off. Do you know if that part (female threaded nut) is a standard plumbing part? If so, it might be 80% less expensive since I have to order a kit just for that part.

Nice! Now I just need to figure out what will fit. If I cut it off to take to a plumbing store can I still run the pool filter?

Jandy threads, and the size of the nut, are proprietary. The product referenced is used on many above-ground (portable) spa pumps and heaters, but won't fit a Jandy pump.
Ok, so I need the kit, and will need to cut the pvc pipe to repair, unless I'm missing something. Thanks everyone!

Also, since this pump is pretty old, should I consider a new one? If so, some recommendations? Or just run with it until it breaks?

If you cut the pipe flush with the back of the tailpiece and glue in a 2" PVC pipe extender you can install the new union assembly with out cutting all the pipe in the suction line. Just remove the outlet union and move the pump back. Here is an example though you may be able get one at a pool supply as well:

The actual Jandy part is not available at a plumbing supply as it is not a standard part.

How often is it used?

If the pump with the broken part is NOT a part of the filtration plumbing, yes you can still filter. Would need to see the entire plumbing at the pad to say for sure.
