Jandy RS/iAqualink - pump doesn't turn back on after spa mode turned off

When the spa is turned on and then back off, the pump does not automatically start back up once the actuator goes back to pool mode, even though it is within the scheduled run time even though the panel (or at least iAqualink) reports the pump is still on. This has been happening for quite some time, but I could swear it hasn't always been so. This logically doesn't seem correct (or at least optimal), especially as iAqualink thinks it is still on. Pump lockout is turned on, so I would expect it to turn off while the value is changing position, but I'd expect it to turn on again once it gets to pool... as it does when going from pool->spa. The problem is when someone uses the spa and forgets to restart the pump afterwards, the pump ultimately doesn't get enough runtime/turnover and I'm getting algae growth. And... behavior modification seems ineffective on said "someone"....

Is this expected or perhaps something wrong?

When the system goes back to "pool" mode and you say the iAqualink "thinks" it is still on, is the small red LED above "Filter" lit in the outside panel? Is this a VSP?

How are you switching into spa mode? Are you activating the spa function from the app (or web interface), or do you have the spa mode set up as one of the one touch items?

If the latter that is why the filter/pump function stays off when the spa is turned off, as the one touch items turn everything off when they are turned off.

I suspect you are doing the latter if your scheduled filter/pump function is not continuing to run when you turn spa mode off.
