Jandy Never Lube Backwash Help

I have a handy 2-in-1 never lube main valve. I followed the direction to backwash, but no water is coming out of the backwash line. It only spits out of the pressure gauge on top of the filter.

Steps taken:
1. Pressure valve on filter tank opened and all pressure bled out
2. Main valve turned to backwash
3. Turned pump back on.
4. Water spits out of the gauge. No water through the line.

There is a ball valve at the end of the backwash line and confirmed open.

Any ideas?

Possibly the stem that the handle turns is broken internally, or the shaft that connects the two diverters is broken.
