Jandy LT 400 BTU Gas Heater - ES1 Error

I have a Jandy LT 400 BTU Gas Heater. It's about 11 years old. It won't start. Here is a quick sequence of events:

  1. Power up the heater.
  2. Light on the panel comes on.
  3. About a minute or two passes with nothing happening. No blower, not nothing.
  4. Service and ES-1 light comes on.

This heater is my nemesis. Every year, since about 3 years after install, something goes wrong with it. I've replaced several parts myself and have been able to get it running each time. All other times, the blower would at least come on. Now, nothing happens.

Any advice is really appreciated.

OK... so I followed the troubleshooting guide. According to the steps, it appears the GUI (Temp Control Unit) is bad. Searched all over the net for an hour and can't find it. Part is no longer made.

I'm still thinking it could either be the fuse link or the transformer. Anyone know how I can test the transformer to see if its working?

Re: Jandy LT 400 BTU Gas Heater - ES1 Error - SOLVED BAD FUSIBLE LINK

*****SOLVED*****

Great news guys. I bypassed the Fusible Link with a jumper cable that the heater fired right up. I'm pretty sure I replaced it a few year back. Well, $13 part is better than buying a new heater at $2000. Trying to dodge that bullet as long as I can.

Thanks for the help. I thought I would post a follow up in case anyone else runs into the same problem.
