Need some help, at my whits end.
Atlanta GA
42,000 gallon pool
Jandy PLC1400 SWGC
5 year old pool.
End of last year had some consistent algae problems. Finally figured out the SWGC was bad. In April I replaced it with an amazon offbrand cell (no sensor or electrical plug). About 3 weeks ago, pool starting going green. Screen says ‘No Flow’. I did all the maintenance steps:
- Cleaned filters
- cleaned skimmers
- cleaned baskets in pool equiment
- soaked cell in muratic acid to clean it.
No resolve. So I bought a OEM Jandy Aquapure kit with sensor and plug.
Installed 2 days ago - worked for a few hours and I was relieved. Got home, and NO FLOW AGAIN!!!!
I just did the test steps I saw in another thread
Circuit board seems ok?
Disconnect the flow salinity temp sensor from the circuit board. Press and hold the test buttons marked salinity and R-temp.
While still pressing the test buttons press the ‘Salinity’ key (‘C’) on the front cover of the unit. The LCD should read 2.8 gpl*.
READS 3.2
While still holding the two circuit board test buttons press the ‘Pool Temperature’ key (‘D’). It should read 75° F or 24° C.
READS 74
Next, press and hold the board ‘H-Temp’ test button, and at the same time press the ‘Salinity’ key (‘C’) together with the ‘Chlorine Production Rate’ arrow down key (‘A’) on the front cover of the unit. The LCD should read 91° F or 33° C .
READS 90
If the readings are correct then the circuit board is O.K. and the problem is with the flow sensor.

I went out right now to take pictures for this post, rebooted, and I have FLOW. Then 20 minutes late, No Flow.
Turned system off and on again. Screens shows 60 which I think just signifies American electrical. Then Cell Reversing Light and Wait for maybe 2-3 minutes, I noticed the production was showing 0, so I turned it up to 100%, Cell turns on, has Flow….5 minutes later, No flow, and Light for Cell reversing again.

PLEASE HELP!!

Welcome to TFP.

You have the classic signs of algae clogging your filter and slowing the water flow.

When did you last clean your filter?

What is your filter PSI.

What test kit do you use and how do you chlorinate your pool?

Do a Overnight Chlorine Loss Test and if you fail you need to follow the SLAM Process to get your pool lage free.

Ok, so over the past few days, I have slammed my pool With chlorine to eliminate algae and then replaced the filters. After all that, the system starts up, flow light not lit, after a minute, flow light blinks for about a minute, then flow light turns solid green, lights on panel show cell on, chlorine generationing. The flow light stays on for 30 seconds, then turns off, panel indicates No Flow.

Any thoughts?

The only thing that looks at all abnormal is the filter on the water feature pump. It does not completely fill with water and go air free (like the main filter pump). Could this be related?
