It turned green on me!

Could you describe the problem again. specifically, with a picture of the issue? With FC so high, at this point I doubt it's organic. FYI a SWG/Salt Pool is a chlorine pool. A swg is just a machine that produces chlorine from the salt in your water and reduces the amount of other sources of chlorien you will need.

I think you mentioned your water is now clear. Is that correct?

If that's the case, then, as we've said, you need to do the Overnight Free Chlorine test which is explained here
pool-school/overnight_fc_test to confirm the organics are in fact gone completely. Make sure your SWG is OFF when you do this test. If you didn't do this Saturday night/Sunday morning then just take a FC/CC reading today sometime as your own reference. As chem geek said, its obvious there's CYA in the water as the levels are dropping rather slowly. Then do the overnight test tonight and in the morning.

With respect Tim, I have to reiterate dbman and ask for patience with replies. No one is ignoring you or upset, we all have many responsibilities. Many of us had kids return to school last week and even more going back this week and many of us are enjoying our last good pool weekends before fall hits. The advice you've received is spot on. So focus and take it one step at a time with us.. :goodjob: Your to do list today is:

Get a reference FC and CC reading sometime today.
Swim if it's down as Chem Geek advised earler.
Do the ONFCL test tonight, tomorrow morning. Directions are in the above link.
Enjoy your Sunday.

did you drain and refill? From one of your prior posts it seemed like that's what you were considering.

No I contact (swallowing my pride) an expert on water, and he laughed at me a lot. Dads always right. Called old friends from the military, drug up some old systems to purify the water and cool it. Refilled with the hose and it seems just fine. Drank one to many with old friends and enjoyed ourselves.
Cost: Beer
Gas
My pride to Dad (again)

Can you elaborate? What sort of purification system was this exactly and how did it solve the green spots on your floor, that an FC of 32ppm did not?

I'm sorry to question you, but we've provided a lot of guidance and I'd like to know what this magical system is that could solve your issue that days of shocking/filtering and us helping you get through suppossed frustration and threats from your DW running over the pool with her Jeep could not?

Anyway, if you feel your problem is solved (I know dads can be pretty cool), but unless you keep up with your pool water maint and testing, you will run into issues again and I would just like to see you be able to avoid that unneccessary frustration.

I would like to be able to keep the pool issues under control too. An old water purification system that a guy purchased at an army auction was used to clean and chill the water. There are still some small spots on the bottom that a brush cant get to but I am going to get in it later and go under water and hand rub them. The spots are in indentations from foot prints and ground moles that chased the grub under the pool. I guess next time I have to go away for an emegrency I will pay a company to come in and take care of it for me.
