My robot loses connectivity with the control base frequently. Sometimes I will get a full clean, sometimes I will have to jiggle the cord and power cycle it. I know what the problem is, there is a design flaw where the 4 pin connector screws into the control base. It is just very loose and contact is lost. I have tried bending the pins slightly and also added dielectric grease to the connections. But nothing seems permanent. Does anyone here have this issue and found a solution? It is still under warranty since the seller added a year to it. I hate to bring it in with a problem like this as it only leads to frustration when they claim they cannot reproduce it.

Maybe bring the base and cleaner and show them how flimsy and intermittent the connection is?? Perhaps if they change the cord or try a different power supply then the connection might get better. Since it’s under warranty they can just bill it as a cord replacement.

By the way, dielectric grease is used for insulating connections against water and the environment. It’s not conductive. Conductive paste is used to make a tight bridge between two dissimilar or worn electrical contacts.

Hey Poolgate, the cable connector does disassemble pretty easily. When you disassemble it, you'll see where the wires connect to the pins. There is a very small metric allen metric set screw that you use to connect the bare wire to the pin. Chances are the set screw is loose in the connector. That'd be my first thing to check.

On the money i repair them solder the wire ends and make sure you tighten the allen key up and use a little silicone spray to stop corrosion.

Thanks guys I did notice that the connection can be unscrewed. I will check this out this weekend. I tried bending the pins with a needle-nosed pliers and that helped some but it still loses connection frequently. Seems poorly designed.

I have to resurrect this briefly I tried to open the plug today. I got the nut off and the 2 washers below that but could not figure out how to get the wires out so I could tighten the allen wrench. Any ideas?

Can you post a picture of what you’re seeing when it’s partially disassembled? I have no idea what your plug end looks like.
