My light works fine, I just don't like the look of it (I dislike yellow light) so I want to go with a more "daylight" or white colored led. The bulb currently installed (non led) I am not sure how old it is (we have lived in this house for 5 years so I know it's older than that.) With being cooped up in the house I guess I am looking for some things to do lol.
I hadn't looked much at my set up since we bought the house since it did work. I spent some time the other day on it. I have a single switch, standard 120v toggle in a water proof enclosure. Single light bulb. I always thought it was a 12v lamp as I do have an intermatic px300 transformer box. However, I opened up that box and the actual transformer that should be inside is gone. It looks like maybe it failed so someone removed it and rewired inside that box. Based on that, I have to assume I have a 120v lamp. Can I leave it like this and just put another 120v led in there or is it really not good to have the wiring like this? I looked up replacing just the transformer and that part is expensive, it would be cheaper to replace the entire px300 box but then I have to install that or take it apart and remove the transformer then figure out the right wiring.
I have not removed the actual bulb yet. Is there any way to tell what gasket I may need without removing anything? I would like to replace the gasket as well and I don't want to have things apart for too long.
Any recommendations on a cheaper led lamp? Color changing is not really a necessity but I would take it if it doesn't change the price much. I see a lot on amazon for around $100.
