Is there an order to removing plugs and gizmo when opening?

I asked for help with opening last year but I ended up using a pool company so I apologize if I'm asking the same question. I don't think I can screw up anything too badly with opening vs. closing but want to be sure I'm doing it right. I had a pool company close my pool and they put plugs...

The winterizing rubber plug got sucked into the pipe nearest the filter pump because this year I didn't take the gizmos off first. The pipe has a 90 degree bend right at the end so I can't see down it. You say a shop vac sucked it out? There was enough pressure to get it out? Any advice?? Help!! Do I leave the gizmos in while trying to shop vac it out?

Update. I tried the shop vac with the gizzmo still on and the stopper didn't come out. I don't even hear it bouncing around. ugh

Take them out because some air/water movement will help.

Yup. It's like one of those puzzles that only fits one way. If you jiggle it around enough in there with the shop vac, it'll pop right out.

Put the hose on and off the pipe quickly and for various fractions of a second to stir it jiggling.

I'm not sure if the prayers or 4 letter words helped but many of each were screamed.
