Is it okay to add muriatic acid to a freshly painted pool?

Hi,

My pool was painted a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, I need to lower the pH (8.0+ reading this morning). Is it okay if add muriatic acid? Should I add something else? Should I wait longer? Thank you in advance for the help
